Motherhood: Breastfeeding

I read the poems and stories.
seen the photos
I have also experienced it,
the most beautiful moment
and an interesting, intimate one.

I don’t know if I understand it fully yet,
But I feel it.

They say the time we have to hold the ones we love is limited.
Maybe that’s why I keep wanting to hold on.
I don’t want to rush this moment ever.
I just sit here and let it be.

Your tiny hands
holding my fingers
so tightly.
Like you know me already.
Like you trust me already.

I am not surprised

And your eyes…
You look straight into mine
So lively,
as if you are trying to say something
You don’t have words for yet.

“I love you.”

Well…
I love you too.

Your small mouth latches onto me,
You take what you need
and somehow you give back
your best smiles and soft giggles.
that come and go
like they belong to another world.

I am honored

I am right here experiencing it again,
the most beautiful moment
and an interesting, intimate one.

Keep holding my fingers.
Keep looking at me like that.
Keep smiling.
Keep giggling.
Keep reaching for me
without thinking.

I will not rush you.
I’ll just stay, always
and let this moment be

For this is a different kind of love.
One I don’t need to understand or explain.
Only to feel and remember.

You'll Also Love
