On Thanksgiving and Christmas morning,
my soul sighs in different directions ,
Each breath carries a story of its own.
There are homes I imagine, warm with laughter,
hearts gathered from far and near,
tables filled with every kind of food,
memories that reach across generations
like gentle lights glowing in a quiet room.
How beautiful it must be.
Then I think about those who spend the holidays alone,
some by choice,
some because of difficult circumstances,
Some because life has been hard.
My heart aches for them,
for the empty spaces that holidays often show.
Then I look at my own family,
the faces God has entrusted to me,
the warmth He placed around my life,
the miracle of being here with them,
sharing this journey of little and much,
of ordinary days and holy gratitude.
Joy fills me and makes me pause,
because I know none of this happened by accident.
It is His mercy woven into every season of my life.
The holidays always make me feel sentimental
a time when joy and sadness meet,
where compassion widens,
and where gratitude feels like a gentle song
singing inside my chest.
But I try to be careful with this feeling,
so that my heart may not escort the big chariot,
as it holds on to the beauty of being.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
